In the Paint

An old basketball truism: who controls the paint controls the game. But sometimes in a creative act we have to lose control, to surrender to collective energies and go with the flow. In the paint, CBC artist collectives take initiative to create ways to weave through the blurring lines of basketball and art. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TāngTángTǎngTàng (湯棠淌燙): Performative Rituals in Flow Recap

August 27, 2025, co-presented by Culture of Bathing and Chinatown Basketball Club

For one night only,  TāngTángTǎngTàng explores the shared ethos of movement, ritual, and community. Guests experienced poetic bathing rituals, rhythmic breathing, Tai Chi that moved like a fast break, and hoops-inspired performance rooted in Chinese traditions old and new. The program featured artists Jiaoyang Li, Caren Wenqing Ye, and Lu Zhang, with music by Siyi Chen and Milam. Hosted at Othership Williamsburg.

Incidental Contact

Incidental Contact presented by CBC, is an outdoor group photography exhibition curated by Sha Luo and Benji Zijian Hsu. It a series of community activations around Chinatown, exploring basketball’s rhythm of trust, tenderness, and connection.
